We are members of Fairfield and have been since 2002. This is one of the worst decisions that we have ever made. We have friends, two couples, who are members and have voiced the same regrets.

I have called Fairfield Resorts many times 4 months to 2 weeks before I wanted a reservation and was told that there were none available. I have gone to Hotels.com on the internet on all occasions and found rooms at the Fairfield Resort in the location that I wanted and for the dates I wanted. When I have complained I have been told that these rooms are listed by members. I do not believe that all of these have been listed by members as I have been told so many untruths by Fairfield representatives.

I would like to know if this is a problem to any other Fairfield members. I would also like to know is this has been looked into legally. I think that it should be.

Sells membership?

Glenda , Im sorry you are having a bad experiance with Wyndham. First let me say you are not a member of anything, you are a deeded owner. Just like your house, you own bricks and mortar. That being said, Fairfield/Wyndham CANNOT sell, lease, rent, lend, or do anything with property it does not own. Fairfeild is a developer and YOU are the owner. ONLY a owner can offer a unit for sale, lease, rent or otherwise. You should bring this issue up at your next P.O.A. meeting. I hope this helps.

Glenda, you have been ripped-off by Fairfield resorts.

Glenda, in response to Marks comments, if you bought your timeshare like I did, you do not own a deed to anything but service, which Fairfield can give or refuse as they have refused me after paying $14,000. I have not gotten one vaction yet after two years and $14,500+ dollars to these crooks. If you bought into their point system, you do not have a time frame to bargain with, in other words point = nothing more than Fairfield decides to give you. This is the biggest fraud in the history of business in America today. Thousands of us are being dupped into this scheme which allows the timeshare companies to grossly oversell their properties under the guise that they are only the sales arm of this scheme. They are the ones lying to the public and making the big money. Then they say the problem is the group that runs the place. This industry needs to be shut down immediately. Write to as many regualtory agencies as you can, and complain to your representatives to have this business closed down.

the truth

There are several reasons this program doesn't work for you scott, most likely by no fault of your own. I used to work for Fairfield and RCI both. As far as not getting reservations that seem available. The resorts and Fairfield itself are entirly different entities. Fairfield only has acces to time in rooms that are owned and have been deposted by other members. Untill the week in a unit has been sold It is used for promotional and or rental use. This is also most likely why the resort will book you. They have the ability to clear these rooms for you. They also want you to buy more time from the resorts.

The best advice is book very far in advance, and triple check anything you agree to or sign.
